Campaign Issue 1: Poor quality service and ongoing turmoil faced by Passengers on South Eastern Railways

Passenger complaints include constant delays, train cancellations, over crowding, safety issues and poor facilities. The resulting turmoil is further exacerbated by complaints over the lack of staff and coherent communication at stations and platforms. Despite pay high ticket prices that have been escalating at an above inflation rate passengers receive very little to no compensation for the grief that they suffer.

Commuter distress is proven to be a cause of stress and anxiety affecting the health of passengers. The combination of the above often results in aggressive and unsafe travelling conditions.

Campaign Issue 2: The Government needs to reform its tender process and terminate rather than reward under performing service providers

Despite this extremely poor service and the problems being endured by passengers on a weekly basis the government appears to has rewarded South Eastern Railways with a new contract and huge subsidies.

Rail transportation tenders should be based on merit and the Government should prove that they will not tolerate UK residents being subjected to incompetent service providers. South Eastern Railways has failed Londoners and their contract should be terminated immediately so that a suitable provider can take over in their place.

Why Join CrowdCrusader's CrowdAction Campaign?

Every CrowdAction campaign on the CrowdCrusader platform is based on the concept of masses of individuals Crowding Together to create a powerful united force with vast resources which can influence governments and corporates to create positive change.

This campaign will focus on a CrowdFunded Local/Regional Media campaign using Billboard, Newspaper and Radio advertisements. By dominating the public airwaves with our core message we can create an amplified level of CrowdPressure and use the power of public opinion to force the Government to take the steps required to end the suffering of Londoners by terminating South Eastern railway's contract if conditions and service does not improve in the very short term. Equally CrowdCrusader hopes that by shining a spotlight publicly on these issues and creating negative publicity against South Eastern Railways, they will acknowledge their failings and work proactively and rapidly to remedy the problems currently being faced by passengers.

Campaign Objectives

  • Get the government to terminate SouthEastern's contract sooner than their 2018 term deadline if important service and quality KPIs (Key Performance indicator) are not met in 2015/2016
  • Get the government to cut SouthEastern Railway's subsidy and create a new fund for greater passenger reimbursement during severely disrupted journeys.
