Revenge Porn is a crime that is destroying countless lives across the world and has reached epidemic levels in the UK. We are pushing for stronger laws to help prevent the act of sharing personal sexual images and videos and to prosecute those who do. Many of these images and videos were made unbeknownst to the victims and the sharing of these very personal and very explicit recordings are ruining lives. Our goal is to push for stricter laws and create new regulations which will bring justice to the victims of revenge porn.

CROWDFUNDING AN OUTDOOR MEDIA CAMPAIGN

Through the unique concept of CrowdAction we will use the funds contributed to create a powerful media campaign that can reach millions of people and create sufficient pressure on our MP's and Parliament to force the legal changes that are required.

Billboard Campaing:

Outdoor marketing through billboards(please see our planned examples below) and bus shelters across the UK will be our primary advertising medium. Jcdeceuex will execute these campaigns across the most visible and high profile billboards in London and other cities in the UK and we will believe will garner greater support and raise the funding needing for a sufficient media campaing that can force positive change on this issue.

As a secondary advertising medium we will maximise the viral power of the internet using banners like the ones below and marketing via Google Display Network and social media platforms. One of the key advantages of this medium is that it will allow viewers who believe in the objectives of this campaign to share with their personal networks and expedite the growth of support for the campaign.

Our Vision

Our vision is to reach the goals laid out in the tables above so that we can reach out to as many people as possible via outdoor billboard advertisement and internet banner campaigns and social . The more people we reach, the better chance we have of being heard by the MPs and the stronger the laws can be made.

In the past 2 years there were 149 allegations of revenge pornography in England and Wales. Of those 149, only 6 resulted in a police caution or charge. Something has to be done about this.

Why Now

The new revenge porn law that went into effect in April of 2015 helped, but it didn’t do enough. There are too many loopholes that people are able to fall through and, in many cases, the law doesn’t take action until it is too late. There has been an extremely low volume of prosecutions being brought forward by the Crown Prosecution Service which adds credit to this point.

What People are Saying

Laura Higgins, the founder of the Revenge Porn Helpline, states, “There are lots of cases we see that will fall through the net. Photoshopped images are not covered, for example. We’re delighted at anything that raises awareness and hopefully deters perpetrators… but there’s a whole group of victims who won’t be covered.”

Ms. Folami Prehaye, a victim of revenge pornography has said: “The law needs to be made tougher and more transparent because there are a lot of people going through these problems that the police won’t take seriously. The law change hasn’t made that much difference. My ex wouldn’t have had a longer sentence or got locked up, because the sentencing is identical. They need something more robust that would make people pay attention. The Sex Offenders Register would be an obvious deterrent – it’s a malicious sex offence.”

Campaign Objectives

  • Convince the UK Government to strengthen revenge porn legislation by incorporating the recommendations made by this campaign.
